We are delighted to invite you and your family to a very special event: A Festival for Children: A Celebration of What is Possible, taking place on Sunday, 21st September 2025 at Gisburn Forest, nestled in the stunning Forest of Bowland National Landscape.

This free, inclusive event is created especially for families with a disabled child aged 7–16 and offers a day full of discovery, creativity, and adventure in nature.


What’s in Store


Join us for a relaxed, supportive, and joyful day where your child and family can:

🌲 Explore nature through bushcraft, forest bathing, and woodland crafts

🎨 Get creative with art workshops and storytelling sessions

🎵 Enjoy the senses with sound bathing and interactive exhibits

🚴 Try out all-terrain wheelchairs and adaptive cycling

🔥 Gather around a campfire at the end of the day for stories and shared experiences

There will be plenty of opportunities to choose your own pace, meet other families, and enjoy the beauty of Gisburn Forest.

Accessibility and Facilities


We are committed to making this event as accessible and comfortable as possible:

  • Changing Place facility and accessible toilets on-site.

  • A wide range of inclusive activities to suit different abilities and interests.

  • Support staff are available throughout the day.

  • The chance to test-drive all-terrain mobility equipment.


Important Information


  • Please bring a packed lunch – the Gisburn Forest café will be closed during the event.

  • Dress for the outdoors – British weather is unpredictable, so bring layers and waterproofs just in case!

  • All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult throughout the day.

  • By booking, you agree to the event’s Terms and Conditions, including cancellation in case of severe weather.


This event is hosted by Access the Dales in partnership with the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, both dedicated to creating outdoor experiences that are open, inclusive, and empowering for all.
