About the landscape
New Laund Farm sits within the heart of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, an area celebrated for its sense of space, quiet, and dramatic upland scenery. The surrounding land rises from around 500 feet to over 1,500 feet above sea level, creating a rich mix of rolling valleys, open fell, and sweeping views across the Bowland hills. This varied elevation gives the area its distinctive character, with changing light, big skies, and a strong feeling of being immersed in nature.
The Whitewell Estate is shaped by centuries of farming and land management, resulting in a landscape that feels both wild and lived‑in. Ancient tracks, rough pasture, and upland moorland combine to offer a deeply atmospheric setting that rewards slow exploration. Walking here is about more than the route itself — it’s about pausing to take in the scale of the landscape, the sounds of wildlife, and the sense of freedom that comes from being in a truly special place.
This inclusive guided walk offers a chance to experience Bowland’s upland beauty together, sharing the journey through one of Lancashire’s most inspiring and quietly powerful landscapes.
