Why Visit Malham?

The charming village of Malham is a gateway to some of the most spectacular scenery in northern England. Rolling hills, limestone formations, and crystal-clear streams make it a must-visit destination for walkers, nature lovers, photographers, and families.

Malham is particularly famous for:

  • The towering limestone cliffs of Malham Cove

  • The dramatic ravine of Gordale Scar

  • The peaceful riverside walk towards Janet’s Foss

Now, with improved countryside access, even more visitors can experience these iconic locations.

The Malham Access Hub at The Lister Arms

The Malham Access Hub is based at The Lister Arms, a welcoming pub right in the centre of the village. It’s the perfect starting point for your day out – easy to find, friendly, and surrounded by stunning scenery.

From here, visitors can borrow a Kymco Maxer, a robust all-terrain wheelchair designed to handle uneven countryside paths and give users the confidence to explore further.

Three Iconic Routes, One Incredible Experience

Using the Kymco Maxer, you can choose from three unforgettable routes, each showcasing a different side of Malham’s natural beauty:

🌿 Malham to Janet’s Foss

Enjoy a tranquil riverside route through Malhamdale. This accessible path offers peaceful views and a true sense of being immersed in nature. Please note that the accessible route stops before the waterfall itself.

🪨 Gordale Scar

Journey down to Gordale Scar, one of the most dramatic limestone ravines in the UK. Towering rock walls and a sense of scale make this an awe-inspiring destination and a highlight of any visit to the Yorkshire Dales.

⛰️ Malham Cove

Head up to the legendary Malham Cove, a huge curved limestone cliff formed by thousands of years of water erosion. It’s one of the most photographed landmarks in the Dales – and seeing it in person is even more impressive.

Accessible Adventure in the Yorkshire Dales

The Malham Access Hub is part of a growing movement to make the countryside more inclusive. Whether you’re a wheelchair user, have limited mobility, or are supporting someone who does, this hub makes it possible to enjoy fresh air, freedom, and famous landscapes without barriers.

After your adventure, return to The Lister Arms to relax, enjoy food and drink, and soak up the welcoming village atmosphere.
