Access the Dales is thrilled to witness the growing enthusiasm for the all-terrain wheelchair available for borrowing from Richmond Swimming Pool. As we prepare to join in the celebration of their 48th birthday on Sunday, May 19th, we invite everyone to take part in the festivities at Old Station Yard, nestled alongside the scenic River Swale in the charming North Yorkshire Georgian Town of Richmond.
Richmond Swimming Pool, boasting two pools with panoramic views, has been a beloved fixture since its establishment in 1974. The pools offer families and visitors alike a chance to soak in the beauty of their surroundings while enjoying a refreshing swim. Additionally, the newly refurbished 8-hole Richmondshire-themed mini-golf adds to the recreational offerings, promising fun for all ages.
As part of the day's celebrations, Access the Dales is honoured to lead two guided walks at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm, providing participants with the opportunity to explore the picturesque landscapes surrounding Richmond.
The walk is 2 miles on a firm and level track, making it accessible and suitable for users of manual wheelchairs.
During the event, we will also showcase a variety of wheelchairs for attendees to test and experience firsthand
While the event is free for all to attend, we kindly encourage attendees to consider donating to our charity. Every contribution plays a vital role in supporting Access the Dales' mission and ensuring the ongoing maintenance and availability of our wheelchairs for individuals with mobility challenges.
Join us in commemorating 48 years of Richmond Swimming Pool's invaluable service to Richmondshire and beyond. Let us come together to celebrate community, accessibility, and the joy of outdoor recreation amidst the breath-taking scenery of North Yorkshire.
We look forward to seeing you there!
