ACCESS THE DALES

Mission Statement

Getting outside is vital for the mind, body and the soul. We are committed to making the countryside more accessible to more people by growing the number of locations where you can borrow an all-terrain wheelchair.

We are passionate about getting children outdoors and this is why we are concentrating our effort and resources to get all-terrain wheelchairs which are specially designed for children into the Dales so that families and carers can enjoy the great outdoor together.

Ethos and Values

The principles we live by at Access the Dales are:

to respect one another and listen to each other

to empower everyone to get outside whatever their ability

to provide a means of accessing the countryside for people of all abilities

to encourage responsible use of the outdoors

to encourage every child and adult to be proud of who they are.

Our core values of respect, achievement and positivity are a fundamental part of our charity, Access the Dales.

Aim

Access the Dales exists to break down the barriers that prevent children with limited mobility to enjoy the great outdoors, either independently or with their friends and family.

We will do this wherever need, demand and our capacity allow, by making all-terrain mobility vehicles available to borrow at outdoor locations in the Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Objectives

To enable Access the Dales the ability to fund initiatives and activities for charitable needs which reflect its beliefs and ethos.

To encourage and inspire all people, whatever their ability to enjoy the outdoors for the benefit of physical and mental health.

To remove the barriers of getting children with disabilities outdoors by the provision of all-terrain wheelchairs in suitable locations.
